Series: Bible Basics

What is so Great about the Gospel? – Romans 1:16

What is so great about the gospel? We attempt to answer this question and discover that the answer is ‘everything!’

Series: Genesis

Prevailing with God – Genesis 32

We learn lessons from Jacob’s dealings with God. Firstly, his prayer, which is humble, sincere, direct and persuasive. Secondly, we learn from his wrestling with the man until dawn. Who is the man? Do we approach our God with the same attitude? Is our cry ‘I will not let you go unless you bless me’? Will we be prayer warriors?

Enter the Dreamer – Genesis 37

Resuming our series in the book of Genesis after a break, we come to the famous account of the life of Joseph. We begin to see that hand of God on his early life, and learn that despite difficulties, God works all things together for good for His people, and we must trust Him whatever the circumstances we face.

Series: Evangelistic Ministry

Grace for the Grateful – Luke 17:11-19

Concluding our series of four messages based on the unique miracles of Luke, we come to consider the one leper out of ten who returned to the Lord Jesus to give thanks for his healing. Have we realized that we are infected with an incurable disease called sin? Will we react with similar gratitude to the only one who can heal us?

Nothing New Under the Sun – Ecclesiastes 1:9

King Solomon had all the riches and wisdom in the world at his disposal, and he tried everything to satisfy himself, eventually concluding that apart from knowing God, ‘all is vanity’. We focus on one much-used statement from the opening chapter of Ecclesiastes, and see that it is true. We see how an understanding that there is nothing new in this world humbles us, warns us, teaches us, and encourages us. We consider in closing that for those who love God, there is something new to come, but not ‘under the sun’!

True Repentance – Psalm 51

Psalm 51 is a unique look into the heart of King David when he was challenged about his wicked behaviour by the prophet Nathan. We make five points about what true repentance is, and three points about the results of true repentance. The biggest question with which we finish is ‘Have we seen our own sins and truly repented?’

Are You a Fool? – Luke 12:16-21

We examine the parable of the rich fool, and see how he got his priorities all wrong – caring only for this life and nothing for his eternal future. Are you a fool like him?

Suppressing the Truth – Romans 1:18

We consider together the great foolishness of supressing the truth about God. What a warning is laid out in these verses! What is the wrath of God? Have we ever paused to consider it? Will you continue to suppress the truth?

The Lost Sheep – Luke 15:1-7

The first of three in a mini-series looking at the three parables of Christ in Luke 15. Have we realised that if we do not know God, we are like a lost and wandering sheep? Have we paused to consider the love of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, toward us when we deserve nothing at all?

Series: Teaching Ministry

All Things to All Men? – 1 Corinthians 9:22

We hear Paul’s words ‘all things to all men’ bandied about as justification for many wrong practices in church life today. We examine the context of the expression, and ask what Paul’s example is. We conclude that humility and a focus on the salvation of souls are the prime matters to take from the passage, and move on to consider one or two specific areas that we, as a church, might have to think carefully about!

Run to Win – 1 Corinthians 9:24

What does the Apostle Paul mean when he urges us to live the Christian life as running a race? We look at four principles in the passage: We must struggle, we must have self-control, we must have direction and we must keep a self-watch.
