Both Father’s Day and Mother’s Day are difficult days for the abused and the abandoned, the barren and the bereaved, those who are alone with their longings to belong and be loved, and those who can’t escape to safety and peace.
If this is you, on this Father’s Day, remember the Word of the Lord:
When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take care of me. – Psalm 27:10
For son dishonors father, daughter rises against her mother, daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own household. Therefore I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; My God will hear me. – Micah 7:6-7
And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. – Matthew 19:29
For it is written: “Rejoice, O barren, you who do not bear! Break forth and shout, you who are not in labor! For the desolate has many more children than she who has a husband.” Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise. – Galatians 4:27-28
